1. Drying depends on the product, temperature, humidity, and film thickness
There is no universal drying time—it varies depending on the product type (1K or 2K, solvent or water-based), the temperature and humidity in the workspace, and the applied film thickness. A coat applied too thickly dries slower on the surface and can remain soft underneath long after it appears dry on the outside.
2. 1K vs. 2K — different drying mechanisms
1K (single-component) products dry through solvent evaporation—the process depends almost exclusively on environmental conditions (temperature, ventilation). 2K (two-component) products cure through a chemical reaction initiated by the hardener, a process that continues even after the surface appears dry to the touch, independently of evaporation.
